How to read wheel specifications and prepare an inquiry

A model code identifies a design, not a confirmed fit for your vehicle. Start with one complete catalogue row, then check it against the vehicle and its configuration. This guide explains the fields used in the RIMVANTA catalogue and the information that makes an inquiry useful.

Read one complete row: diameter, width, PCD, ET and DIA belong together. Matching only the diameter or vehicle brand does not confirm fitment.

Before ordering: confirm vehicle-specific fitment, brake clearance, required load rating and the exact product details. A catalogue listing is not a live stock record.

What do the five specification fields mean?

FieldMeaningWhat to check
DiameterNominal rim diameter, in inches. The catalogue writes 17-inch as R17.Check the wheel and tyre dimensions approved for the vehicle.
WidthNominal rim width, in inches; for example, 7.5J. J is a rim flange profile designation.Width and tyre compatibility must be checked together.
PCDNumber of mounting holes and diameter of their pitch circle, in millimetres. 5×112 means five holes on a 112 mm circle.Check both the hole count and circle diameter, as well as the required fastening system.
ETOffset: the signed distance between the hub mounting face and the wheel centreline, in millimetres.Confirm the offset for that width, vehicle and brake configuration.
DIACentre bore diameter, in millimetres: the opening at the back of the wheel that locates over the hub.Confirm the hub and wheel interface for the exact application.

These fields do not describe everything needed for installation. The spoke and barrel shape, brake clearance, fastening hardware, tyre requirements and wheel load rating also matter. Do not treat a different offset or centre bore as interchangeable without an application-specific check.

A real catalogue row, without a fitment promise

The RV-0552 flow formed wheel has a listed row: R17 × 7.5J · PCD 4×100 · ET38 · DIA 73.1 mm. This is one combination from that model’s source data, not a recommendation for a named vehicle. Other rows on the same page have different PCD or dimensions.

Read the entire row before selecting it. Do not combine the width from one row, PCD from another and offset from a third. A value shown as “—” has not been supplied in that field; it does not mean zero or universal fit. Where a source cell contains several values or front/rear notes, request clarification of the exact combination instead of inventing additional variants.

What should be verified for the vehicle?

  • Vehicle identity: make, model, year and trim or configuration. Include factory options that change the brakes or hubs.
  • Existing dimensions: wheel markings, current tyre size and any manufacturer-approved alternatives. A clear photo of the markings can help when a value is unknown.
  • Installation requirements: complete dimensions, brake and suspension clearance, fastening system and the required wheel load rating. Use the vehicle documentation and a qualified installer for the final check.
  • Changes already made: disclose non-standard brakes or suspension and other relevant changes. Do not assume a catalogue brand note accounts for them.

A search result labelled with a vehicle brand is a catalogue hint. It is not a fitment database or approval for every vehicle of that brand.

What to include in a RIMVANTA inquiry

  1. The RIMVANTA model code and the complete specification row you are considering.
  2. Vehicle make, model, year, trim and relevant brake or suspension details.
  3. Quantity; specify front and rear quantities separately if they differ.
  4. Your requested finish or design, plus a reference image if needed. Ask for confirmation of the actual product appearance.
  5. Your contact details, destination and the information you need: quotation, current availability, product documentation or timing.

On the model page, select the listed size and use Send inquiry. The message form includes the model and selected specification; review those details and add the vehicle and quantity before sending. If a field is unknown, say so rather than guessing.

Price, delivery terms, warranty and certifications require a specific reply. The catalogue does not confirm a quotation. Supplier catalogue images show the design; ask for current product photos and finish confirmation where relevant.

Catalogue wheels are supplied from stock. Minimum order: 4 wheels. Dispatch is usually within 3 days; this is dispatch timing, not delivery time. Confirm the chosen model and specification in your inquiry. Custom options are confirmed separately.

Common questions

Is the same PCD enough to confirm that a wheel fits?

No. Diameter, width, offset, centre bore, clearances, fasteners and the vehicle’s load requirements still need checking.

Does a model listed under my vehicle brand fit every trim?

No. Catalogue brand notes are search hints. Year, trim, brakes and other configuration differences must be checked.

Does a specification row mean the wheel is in stock?

The table records source catalogue parameters. RIMVANTA supplies catalogue wheels from stock, but confirm the exact model and specification when requesting a quotation.

Can I use any diameter from the category range on any model?

No. Category ranges summarise all listed models. Each product page has its own rows; only those rows describe that model’s catalogue data.

Does “forged” or “flow formed” prove a load rating or certification?

No. The manufacturing category does not establish product-specific load or test results. Ask for documentation for the exact wheel.

Compare dimensions and manufacturing separately

For process explanations and manufacturer examples, read the cast, flow formed and forged wheel guide. For the actual model data, use the cast, flow formed and forged catalogues.
